Sometimes you might be noticing the lack of a trend. It is not an uncommon situation. It is called moments of market consolidation. This is also called that the market is "range trading" or that the market is in a "flat".
A consolidation is a period of range-bound activity after an extended price move, it indicates moments of market indecision when there is no shift in price. It is neither positive nor negative.
The lower and upper bounds of an asset's price create the support and resistance levels within a consolidation pattern. When the consolidation pattern occurs, one needs to wait for the breakout and the mentioned support or resistance levels will indicate the possible reversal points. Remember, the longer that the price is consolidating, the higher the chance of a breakout.
