A time frame is an option that you choose on the MetaTrader platfrom that changes the way that your price chart is displayed.
A Forex Trading Time Frame shows a designated unit of time during which trading took place. A time frame will show you how often the price chart is updated.
Common time frames are:
(M1) 1 minute, (M5) 5 minutes, (M15) 15 minutes, (M30) 30 minutes, (H1) 1 hour, (H4) 4 hours, (D1) 1 day, (W1) 1 week and (MN) monthly.
Time Frame is sometimes referred to as TF.
For example: If your chart type is set to Japanese Candlesticks and you have selected the H1 TF each japanese candlestick will show you how much the price has changes on an hourly basis.
Take note: you can customize the time frames on the MetaTrader platform.
Traders and investors choose their trading time frame depending on their approach and trading strategy. Shorter time frames are commonly used by short-term day traders, while higher time frames are used by "swing" mid-term and "position" long term traders.
